V. Chamundeswarnath will gift the BMW to Sindhu on her return

Indian badminton, or Indian sport in general, is witnessing one of its most special phases ever courtesy of PV Sindhu. The shuttler is the toast of the nation right now, after entering the Women’s Singles final at the 2016 Rio Olympics on Thursday.
The 21-year-old defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in straight games 21-19 21-10 to become the 1st ever Indian shuttler to move into an Olympic final, where she will now face Carolina Marin in what promises to be a cracker of a contest.
Accolades for the Indian’s achievement have been in pouring in since last night, and the Hyderabad District Badminton Association are the first ones to announce a reward for the shuttler.
Sindhu will be given a BMW car by the association on her return from Rio. Confirming the news, the president of the body, V. Chamundeshwarnath said that he had announced earlier that the car would be presented to anyone who wins a medal, and that he would be at the venue to present it.
“I had announced a BMW car to anyone from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh who would win a medal at Rio. I will honour it, and will be glad to present it to Sindhu,” he said.
In 2012, after Saina Nehwal had won the bronze medal at the London Games, she was given the same award by none other than Sachin Tendulkar, and Mr. Chamudeshwarnath is planning to get the batting legend to once again do the honours when Sindhu returns home.
“I am planning to get (good friend and cricket icon) Sachin Tendulkar to gift the automobile to her in Hyderabad. This is a great moment,” he added.
Sindhu has had the best week of her career at the Rio Olympics and on Friday, with the entire country and several other Indians around the world rooting for her, she has a chance to become the 1st Indian sportsperson since Abhinav Bindra to win an individual Olympic gold.

Hyderabad District Badminton Association president V. Chamundeswarnath says he will make good on his promise and gift the posh car to Sindhu on her return.
"I had announced a BMW car to anyone from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh who would win a medal at Rio. I will honour it, and will be glad to present it to Sindhu," he said after the Hyderabad girl sailed into the final.
Chamundi is planning to make it a grand presentation.
