Reliance Jio has announced today that the the network has created a world record by crossing 16 million in total subscribers during the first month of operations. Reliance Jio rolled out its full 4G services to the public on September 5, and became open to most smartphone brands that the SIMs were not compatible with during the Preview Offer.
Mr. Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, said, “We are delighted and humbled by the overwhelming response across India to the Jio Welcome Offer. Jio is built to empower every Indian with the power of data. We are delighted that people have recognized this and are utilizing our services to the fullest. We are customer-obsessed and committed to improve every day to exceed expectations of our customers.”Users can get a Reliance Jio SIM card with the ‘Welcome Offer’, that allows users access to free unlimited 4G data until December 31. This data however, has a cap of 4GB of data a day – beyond which a user will get 128Kbps. Other benefits of the Jio SIM include free voice calling, and no roaming charges forever.
Jio customers will also be able to enjoy access to Jio’s premium apps like JioMusic, MyJio, JioChat, JioMoney and more for free until December 31. Mukesh Ambani has claimed that Jio’s data plans are the cheapest in the world at Rs 50/GB.
Reliance has introduced a paper-less Aadhaar card based Jio SIM activation method across 3,100 towns and cities. Customers using this method will get their SIM activated within minutes, just by giving their Aadhaar card number.
Reliance Jio is currently offering an additional 12 months of Jio Digital Services with the purchase of all Apple iPhone models. Unlike the Airtel offer that is limited to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Jio’s complementary services will also be extended to the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone SE as well.
Jio, a new entrant in the 4G market, has achieved this growth faster than any other telecom operator or start-up in the world, including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype, Reliance Jio Infocomm said in a release. "We are delighted and humbled by the overwhelming response across India to the Jio Welcome Offer. Jio is built to empower every Indian with the power of data," said Mukesh Ambani, chairman, Reliance Industries (RIL).

"We are delighted that people have recognised this and are utilising our services to the fullest. We are customer-obsessed and committed to improving every day to exceed expectations of our customers," Ambani added.
Reliance Jio Infocomm is a subsidiary of RIL. It launched its commercial services on September 5.
At RIL's 42nd annual general meeting, Ambani had said his new telecom venture would aim to acquire 100 million customers "in the shortest possible time and create a new world record". This would translate into a data usage of 250 crore gigabyte per month, he had then said.

Jio has introduced Aadhaar-based paperless Jio SIM activation across 3,100 cities and towns. This enables the customer to complete the SIM activation process in a matter of minutes, with only his/her Aadhaar number.
